With some brilliant movies like Neerja, Pink, Sultan, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi and Kapoor & Sons, and some lackluster movies like Shivaay, Fan, Baar Baar Dekho and Rock On 2, 2016 has been a mixed year for the Bollywood. Some movies like Mohenjo Daro and Mirzya proved to be disasters even after strong concepts. The upcoming year looks promising with a list of some big and strong movies. Here are 20 movies that we think won’t disappoint and waiting for their release eagerly.

1. Raees

The trailer of Raees was launched on December 7 and within launch of two days it has got millions of views. The trailer itself says that the film will be the biggest blockbuster of the year. It will release on 25 January, 2017.

2. Kaabil

Hrithik Roshan has always got special appraisal for his difficult roles like a man-child with special needs in Koi Mil Gaya and a paralyzed man in Guzaarish. In the upcoming movie Kaabil, Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam will be playing a blind couple. The kickass trailer has launched and showed amazing chemistry of the lead pair.

3. Rangoon

Having Shahid Kapoorm Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut as lead roles, the movie has been set in the 1940s, an era of the Second World War. This is the movie I am excited to watch due to Kangana and Shahid.

4. OK Jaanu

Extremely popular and the most loved couple of Aashique 2, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are back with their amazing chemistry. They are reuniting for Ok Jaanu, which is the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Ok Kanmani.

5. Jolly LLB 2

Whosoever has watched Jolly LLB will be able to understand why I am so excited to watch the sequel. Though Jolly LLB was a sleeper hit of 2013, the movie had amazing concept. In the sequel, Akshay Kumar has replaced Arshad Warsi as the lead actor. Huma Qureshi and Annu Kapoor will be other important characters in the movie.

6. Badrinath Ki Dulhania

After winning hearts of audience with their strong chemistry in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are back with their charm in Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

7. Phillauri

This will be Anushka Sharm’s second attempt at as a producer. Apart from the cast that includes Anushka, Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma, Anushka Sharma’s role as a Ghost is what making the movie so interesting. I am dying to see the cute actress as a witch.

8. Naam Shabana

Year 2017 will not be just for the mainstream entertainer movies. It also has in box some thoughtful and serious movies and one of them is Naam Shabana. The movie is prequel to 2015’s blockbuster Baby. It has Pink’s lead actress Taapsee Pannu in the lead role.

9. Jagga Jasoos

After breakup of the cute Jodi of Ranbeer Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, it will be a treat to watch them together in the movie. After several delays, Jagga Jasoos is finally releasing in 2017.

10. Baahubali: The Conclusion

Hope this time we will get to know “Kattapa ne Bahubali ko kyu maara?” I can bet, this is the biggest reason people will go to the theaters to watch this movie.

11. Meri Pyari Bindu

This movie has Ayushmann Khurana and Parineeti Chopra as the lead pair. This will be Parineeti’s first movie as lead role after shredding her weight and it will be interesting to see her act after such a long time.

12. Noor

The Indian drama film features Sonakshi Sinha in the lead titular role where she plays a journalist and a creator of Pretentious Reviews. Kanan Gill will enter Bollywood with this movie. The movie is a Bollywood adaptation of Pakistani novel ‘Karachi, You’re Killing Me!’

13. Baadshaho

The strong chemistry of Ajay Devgn and Emrann Hashmi will once again be there in Milan Luthria’s upcoming movie Baadshaho. The action thriller movie also features Esha Gupta, Ileana D’Cruz and Vidyut Jammwal in lead roles.

14. Half Girlfriend

This movie is another adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Half Girlfriend’. After 2 States, Arjun Kapoor will also play the lead role in this adaptation of novel, but this time Shraddha Kapoor will replace Alia Bhatt. Just hope it to be as interesting and entertaining as 2 States!

15. Toilet Ek Prem Katha

From the title to the lead pair of Askhay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar and to the poster the actor shared recently, everything is to intriguing about the movie that you won’t be able to stop yourself from going to the theater to watch it. The comedy movie is a satirical take on PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan.’

16. The Ring

This will be Shah Rukh khan and Anushka Sharma’s third movie together. It is said to be based on R.K Narayan’s book and Dev Anand’s movie guide.

17. Simran

After the serious movie Rangoon, this will be Kangana’s second movie in 2017. She will be playing role of a divorced Gujarati woman in Simran and again prove her woman power like previous movies Queen and Tanu Weds Manu.

18. Judwaa 2

I am super excited to watch remake of the cult classic of 90’s, Judwaa. Though Salman Khan will be missing this time as Varun Dhawan will play the iconic character, I expect movie to be as entertaining as the original one.

19. 2.0

2.0 is blockbuster movie Robot’s sequel and people are just dying to watch it. This time the invincible Rajnikanth will fight with a very scary villain played by Akshay Kumar. The poster of 2.0 was released recently and just took everyone by surprise due to Askhay’s scary look.

20. Padmavati

The movie has already grabbed a lot of attention due to casting and other problems. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati seems to be one of the most promising movies of the year. It casts Ranveer Singh in the negative role for the first time. Deepika Padukone will be the lead actress while Shahid Kapoor will play her husband in the movie.
