Do you always wish to watch your favorite television shows of 90s? Undoubtedly, those tv serials with sheer simplicity and intriguing scripts were way more interesting and entertaining than today’s unrealistic daily soaps. There was no top drama and unwanted background music, but still the shows were loved like anything.
It seems like our wish has been finally heard by Doordarshan. The oldest broadcasters of India have finally decided go digital and give us our favorite shows back.
Yes, you read it right! Doordarshan has decided to telecast 90s hit shows on popular platforms including Hotstar, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
During an interview with the Daily Mail, Prasar Bharti CEO Shashi Shekhar said, “Some material from the archives has been put on our official website for sale. The next step is to be able to syndicate some of the popular content and make them available through on-demand platforms like Hotstar, Netflix and Amazon Prime.”
Recently, super hit shows including Malgudi Day, Circus and Bharat Ek Khoj were run again on DD. The broadcaster observed a huge rise in the viewership and felt glad to see that people still love TV programs of the 90s.
Apart from providing the content of programs on digital channels, DD is also planning to mark its presence on social media channels including Facebook, Twitter etc. They have set up a separate team to provide live updates of shows, events and matches to keep viewers updated.
Now, isn’t it the best news of the day?
