Just days after announcement of Karan Johar’s surrogate twins, TV’s hot couple Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee has also surprised their fans with announcement of becoming parents. The couple shared the news of adopting two girls Pooja and Lata with the world. They adopted the girls from Gurmeet’s hometown, Jarampur in Bihar.
The on-screen Sita and Ram, who tied the knot in February 2011, will become parents officially after Holi. They will welcome home the lovely girls on March 15, 2017.

Gurmeet’s mother introduced him to the girls when he visited his hometown to attend a wedding in 2014. His parents told them about the girls who work as domestic help to earn their livelihood. After getting to know about death of their father, initially the couple decided to help them financially, but later changed their decision.
Talking about their decision of adopting two girls, Gurmeet said, “After hearing about their plight from my mother, I discussed them with my wife. Debina agreed with me that it was time to give the kids a home, a deserving education and my last name. All the paperwork is done. We will be going to Jarampur for the final signatures after Holi. It is a two-day process. Everybody, including my parents, keeps asking me when I’m planning a baby. Well, it’s official now, I’m bringing home two daughters and we couldn’t be more excited.”

When asked about girls moving in with their parents, Gurmeet said, they won’t come to stay with them. He believes that coming to Mumbai will be a culture-shock fsor them. So, as per the suggestions by counselors and friends, they have decided to send the girls to a good school in Patna.
During the same interview, he said, “After one academic year, they will shift in with us in our Andheri home by 2018. My brother and his family live in Patna and they will be around to see that they are well cared for. Debina and I will travel to Patna three-four times in the year and stay there through their summer vacation too.”
On talking about their own kids in future, the actor said, “The general belief is that you only adopt if you can’t have children of your own. That’s not true at all. Both Debina and I love kids and plan to have a couple of our own in the future. And when they come along they will be siblings for Pooja and Lata and all the Choudharys will happily live together under one roof.”
