Alia Bhatt’s movie ‘Darlings’ sold to Netflix for 80 Crores

The movie Darlings produced by Alia Bhat alongside SRK’s red chillies entertainment is sold to Netflix in one of the biggest deals.

Alia Bhatt is preparing for the theater debut of Gangubai, a historical drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. While the marketing is still running strong, we have learned exclusively that her follow-up to Gangubai will be a direct-to-digital release. Darlings, which she produced alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, will have a direct to digital premiere on Netflix this summer, according to our sources.

“The movie ‘Darlings’ has been sold at Rs. 80 Crores to Netflix after conversations with multiple digital players. Thereby making it one of the biggest deals with a female lead.” Said the source.

The film is currently under post-production and will be available on digital platforms this summer.

Darlings is a dark comedy about a mother-daughter relationship, according to the press. Shefali Shah will play Alia’s mother in the film, which also stars Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles. Darlings is directed by Jasmeet K Reen, while the soundtrack is composed by Vishal Bharadwaj. Apart from Darlings, Alia Bhatt’s next films include Gangubai, RRR, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, and Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra, which she will star in alongside Ranveer Singh.

She’s also rumoured to be in talks with Kortala Siva for Jr. NTR’s upcoming Pan Indian film, however no official confirmation from the studio has been given.
