TV shows in India are said to be close to the audience and somewhat related to the day-to-day life. But with the increasing competition of high TRPs and popularity of the show, some makers forget about the real life. Though daily soaps have become an essential part of the time everyday life of housewives, some of the shows get far from the reality.

There are a number of strange things shown in Indian daily soaps to make them more dramatic and progressive. There are certain things that can be seen in almost all the daily soaps. One of the biggest common factors in most of the Indian TV serials is the concept of remarriage. No doubt people opt for second marriage in case of failed first marriage or due to any other situation, but the makers of TV serials are way more progressive. They don’t feel that just one marriage makes them progressive. So they show multiple marriages of the same character. Sometimes it is shown with the same person but in some serials the character marries different persons.

Let’s have a look at the TV characters who married more than once in serials:

Arjun in Beyhadh

Arjun first marries Maaya, who is a phsyco. The lady can go to any hights to get what she wants. On getting to know about her reality, Arjun leaves her and marries his childhood friend Saanjh who was already in love with Arjun.

Raman Bhalla in Yeh Hain Mohabattein

Here comes another serial of Ekta Kapoor with multiple marriages of the main actor. Both Raman and Shagun married one than once in the serial. Where Raman married Shagun and Ishita, Shagun married Raman and Mani.

Gopi in Sath Nibhana Sathiya

Gopi married four times in Sath Nibhana Sathiya. She first married Aham, who never liked her just because she was uneducated. Anyhow love developed between them, but situation separated them. But they met after a decade and married again. After Aham’s death in an accident, Gopi’s wedding was shown to her doctor Krishna who married her to take revenge of her sister. Finally, she married Jaggi, the look alike and step brother of her first husband Aham.

Anandi and Jagya in Balika Vadhu

Balika Vadhu was one of the best serials on a strong social evil of Child Marriage. The serial spread awareness on the impact of child marriage on kids by showing wedding of small kids Anandi and Jagya at a small age. But slowly the serial also got trapped in the rat race of TRPs and forgot its track completely. After the leap in the story, the Jagya realizes that Anandi is not the type of girl he wanted for himself and marries his classmate. The story doesn’t end here. He further marries another girl Ganga whom he helped in getting out from a troubled marriage. Anandi also went on to marrying another guy Shiv.

Prerna Bajaj in Kasauti Zindagi Kii

Ekta Kapoor is the queen of melodrama and the one who made the concept of multiple marriages to common in Indian television industry. She showed multiple marriages of different characters in just one show and that show was Kasauti Zindagi Kii. The main protagonist of the show Prerna Bajaj first married her love Anurag Basu. But to save him from misfortunes, she married Anurag’s business rival Mr. Bajaj. She was not happy with Mr. Bajaj, so she divorced him and went back to her first love Anurag. But there she started remembering her new love Mr. Bajaj and once again went back to him by divorcing Anurag Basu.

Anurag Basu in Kasauti Zindagi Kii

Why should girls have all the fun and the right to marry a person of her choice? It was not just Prerna who married multiple times in Kasauti Zindagi Kii but also her love Anurag Basu who went on to marrying four different girls. First he married Komolika, then his real love Prerna, then Sampada who also turned out to be a vamp like Komolika and finally his best friend Aparna. The bad luck was that he was not happy in any of the marriages.

Geet in Geet Hui Sabse Parayi

In the beginning of the show, Geet was married to Dev, who turned out to be a cheater. Later she married another guy Maan, who was real brother of Dev. You know twists and turns in Indian TV serials for extra masala!!

Pammi in Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand

Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand was one of the most successful shows of Star Plus. In the serial the protagonist Pammi marries twice: first her love Dev. The story takes a turn and her husband dies, after which she married Rohan, whom she was supposed to marry before she met Dev.

Kashish in Kahiin Toh Hoga

Here comes another entry from Ekta Kapoor. The main actress Kasish married not just once or twice, but thrice. Before marrying her real love Sujal, she married two different men. First she married Sujal’s elder brother Piyush Raheja then Shabbir Ahluwalia and finally Sujal.

Pragya and Abhi in Kumkum Bhagya

The main characters of Kumkum Bhagya have got married to each other so many times that now viewers have even lost track of their marriages. The story has been revolving around Abhi and Pragya’s wedding and the vamp Tanu who comes up with new dramas every time Abhi and Pragya are about to meet.
